russia has a so called shadow fleet. these are ships that carry under-sanctioned goods. as it is a risky business, old decrepit ships are used for this purpose. one or two ships that recently sank in Crimea and created an ecological disaster were river vessels. they were not designed for sea storms. I think they were just given orders and everyone understood the consequences. and those who gave such orders don't care about people and consequences. so before you feel sorry, study the details.
...and this week a Russian cargo ship, Ursa Major, has sunk in the Mediterranean after an explosion in the engine room. Four Russian ships sunk in two weeks. 😂
It was carrying port cranes to Vladivostok, as well as critical parts for an under construction Russian icebreaker. I'd give you a 90% chance this was sabotage.

Those cranes would have moved a lot of cargo; Vladivostok has capacity issues.
Also good news, two crew members are missing, likely dead, which will hopefully discourage future crews from sailing for Russia.
