I mean, yes, if we think we are Jason Bourne, that’s not going to be a winning strategy for most of us. I agree that we should assume our privacy is compromised and therefore not break laws or be prepared to take the consequences of intentionally breaking laws.

We put up roadblocks and do our best, hoping and praying incentives and technology shifts enough to bring freedom to future generations.

I thinks it about time we just admit we have been conned. Privacy online will likely ever exist.

In my course, I say that privacy and security are two different practices. Just as one hand washes the other, both wash the face.

Privacy is not dead, it just requires a different kind of effort today. If people choose not to educate themselves, they will continue to be surveilled. There is also a difference between being private, anonymous, pseudonymous and invisible. In my course, the first thing I suggest is establishing a Realistic Threat Level. Key word realistic because you still have to live your life.
