I think Trump wants to rebuild American manufacturing at any cost, because the USA is going to need it when they are at war with China and can't buy things from China anymore.
He isn't trying to hurt trading partners. He isn't trying to make American's poorer. But those things are also consequences. Big costs.
The fact that he is willing to pay such big costs leads me to believe that the US actually intends to go to war with China. Why is that important? Beats me.

China doesn't want war with US. They want us to keep buying their junk. Yes they could destroy us - then what ? They aren't that dumb.

Yes, China doesn't want to go to war with US. My brother asked me "why do they dare threaten the US, don't they know how unreasonably violent we are?" and my answer was "all they are doing is getting richer. They are not intending any threat" to which he said "that's a good point." Of course there is a military build up, but I see that as a reaction to threats and unclassified plans of the US.
As for the WEF, the whole "you will own nothing and be happy" was a futuristic idea like Star Trek where nobody owns anything but everybody has everything... kinda like the historic idea of communism. There would be a bunch of community self driving cars and you could have one at your front door immediately and go anywhere you wanted without owning a car, without having to service a car, without bothering with insurance, without the headaches of ownership. Some people would prefer that and the WEF thought everybody would prefer that. But people just interpret that one slide as "we are taking your shit, and you had best just be happy that we didn't also kill you." But they didn't mean this at all and the meme is getting kinda tired. This is NOT to say I agree with the WEF, I think they aren't very smart and they are far too much about centralizing power. But also, luckily, I think they are totally ineffective.
And no I disagree that Trump's tariffs have anything to do with the WEF. Neither was the vaccine. The vaccine was in response to the secret knowledge that the virus came out of weapons reasearch, which panicked all the leaders into over-reacting. If the military tells you this was a weapon and the antidote hasn't been created yet but we have the plans for how, most leaders will just believe that and push to make the antidote.
