After sorting out my late Fathers estate, I recently found a letter my Uncle Bill wrote to my grandmother in 1942 after he got a medical discharge from WW2 due to TB.
He died a few months later.
The hospital, now the Botanic Gardens, is about 500 yards from my apartment in the town centre.
Old letters are amazing and should be preserved at all costs.
They're probably one of the best windows into regular human life we'll ever have. They'll outlive everything digital by a long margin.

GM, yes we definitely are.
Although I also read a technical article recently that there is a 90% chance that 100% of our DNA is lost after 5 generations and a 99% chance after 9 generation.
It went into the maths of it, but it lost me very quickly.
