I was canoeing in da swamp and had one hiss at me. Gentle reverse paddled. I also was doing some field work in a marshy area and walked up on a nest. Luckily, it seemed abandoned or old. But I will take a swan any day of the week. Especially cos I am likely to run into a gator by the water and it is game over then. I ain't outswimmin' it!

I cannot help other individuals lack of awareness. Watch where you step and stay away from the mouth.
