Nostr feels like a wonderful cul-de-sac from the '60s where everyone knows each other and throws block parties, kind of like that awesome movie Sandlot from the 90s. What a wonderful community this place is, and it's only going to get better. I left Facebook over 10 years ago and haven't used social media of any kind (LinkedIn doesn't count, does it?). I held out until something like this came long. This is the place to be, y'all.

We have a special community of hopeful community builders here.
Yes, well said.
#YESTR
Welcome 🙏🏾
Yeah I just recently (last week) entered #Nostr and it felt like we are a strong community supporting one another. I have have an account in X since 2013. In fairness to X, that is where I gained my knowledge in #Bitcoin. But in Nostr, man, I was surprised that Bitcoiners support Bitcoiners by this thing called Zap. Everytime I receive it, it makes me want to engage more and create good contents about Bitcoin. This gave the a deeper sense belongingness, a feeling that I never exeperienced at X. ⚡️🤙

Welcome to our hidden oasis!
Great to be in this platform.. It’s too good to be true! 😆🤙
Remember this feeling! Culture comes from the people. These are the early days and as more people join, things will eventually change. But enjoy what we have for now, do everything you can to keep nostr amazing and be thankful you're here to experience it all!
Absolutely💯. The early adaptors are the ones that benefit the most as we saw that in #Bitcoin. Nostr is next and it will change the way we live our lives. Creativity and goodness of humanity endures. We Bitcoiners are the front runners of change. ⚡️🫡
I love this description! I left facebook before the kid was born, did instagram for a bit but it was all so fake and insincere I quit that, too. Nostr has been so fun, once I stepped out of my comfort zone and quit lurking it got even better.
so interesting to here. you are bold, clever, and very likable. i would not have pegged you for a lurker
Thank you for the kind words. It took me a while to realize that it was ok to just be myself and do what I do, it's the reason I tell anyone I come across to engage when they say they don't think nostr is for them.
LinkedIn counts 🤙
🤣
Does it still count if I never use it? I'm looking for a way out. I hate LInkedIn man.
I mean yeah it’s still collecting data and feeding the surveillance monster. I think you can always go back to networking, building a reputation and applying to jobs the old fashioned way, if you want to quit the platform— but IMHO do what you need to do to survive/thrive, it’s not easy out there 🤙
Yeah I tried quitting LinkedIn and than all of these recruiters and hiring managers were inquiring about my LinkedIn. So for now, I keep it off my phone, dust it off when I start a new job to update my job status and log out and clear browser cache. But I will most definitely take that into heavy consideration. ❤️
LinkedIn is the worst Social Platform of them all. It’s social media pretending to be productive work. But in reality it is still just stealing your time and attention returning nothing but brain rot.
100% agree. I have an account, never use it, but for applying for jobs. But yeah, it's a bunch of self aggrandizing and fart sniffing. You guys are getting me all pumped up, I just may do it. 😀
Feels like home 🏠❤️
nostr is happy to have you here with us, building our flocks and the value for value economy. thank you.
Thank you Derek. ✌️
This is my only form of social media, and I’m new here. Seems like a cool place so far 😎
Welcome!
Here for the culdesac evening game of kick the can
Kinda true, but also kinda not o.o It depends who you follow and how many of those people are very prominent - like hodl, odell, jack...
For instance, I don't know you, you don't know me. o.o
Not that it matters, but the decentralized and non-algorythmic nature of nostr also means that there is as much as you dont know as there is that you do know.
