Yes, it’s very problematic and can be used as tool for bias (by stores) and invasion of privacy!

It’s something I’ve been concerned with for over 10 years.

I sketched out an idea for a short story set in the future — a la 📽️”Bladerunner” — in which facial recognition is prevalent and explores privacy concepts, but it got too complex when I started actually writing it.

It would be better as a novel or film so on hold.
