There are hundreds of aviation accidents every year in the United States alone. Many are fatal. Many pilots have lost friends. Nothing unique about 2025.

Fatal airliner accidents are rare because crews are the most highly trained and experienced, there are always at least 2 pilots operating, and the aircraft are triple redundant and overbuilt tanks.

General aviation and military aviation are probably 100x more dangerous than an airline operation. There is probably a crash nearly every day in the US, while a fatal airline accident might be once a decade.
