It supports invite codes. What must I do to give the instructions on how to join?

NIP 29 invite codes or NIP 43 invite codes? Anyhow, I guess that's besides the point, it looks like I can read ok from the relay, except that filters that include any group-related kinds get blocked

I would like to think both, but I'm not sure I did the NIP-29 part yet. NIP-43 I'm sure works.

I imagine it will be difficult to convey a lot of that information through clients, with different ones supporting different features. Maybe the landing page could utilize a secondary description box, so the root user can point back to it from the short description that appears in clients?

"Look here for instructions and a list of what we do" type of thing. If the owner wants their things to grow, they'd need to make it clear & enticing enough to follow links and read, but that is kinda how everything works anyway, right?

I think people currently way under use relay descriptions. You could put a lot of information in there, with links to additional resources. Coracle and flotilla parse them like kind 1s, so you can even quote events, mention people, etc.

I agree, they are definitely underutilized. But honestly, the whole concept of relays as a fun, interesting, useful part of Nostr has just recently started to gain real recognition. I think descriptions will get better as people realize this & let go of the "necessary but cumbersome" framing that's been built up over the previous couple of years. (Exceptions noted & excluded from this statement obviously๐Ÿ˜Š)

Totally, it's also the same problem as running a group in general. Everyone here is a technologist, very few social organizer types around. We need them just as much as the nerds.

๐Ÿ˜‚ I'm pretty sure Macolm Gladwell wrote a book about this.

I bet he did
