There is no such thing as "a cost-neutral way to purchase Bitcoin". The money has to be taken from somewhere. In other words, any government aiming to buy a million BTC will short other sectors of the government or the economy to get there. housing, education, health etc with a net-negative impact on the population.

You don't have to be a genius to understand that.

If they can print for free I don’t think this statement would hold to be true.

They'll print anyway. Point being, even if they money is taken from tariffs (or any other source) it will not get invested in other sectors but instead disappear in the governments treasury.

Idk. I consider government involvement in housing, education and health, in any capacity, to be a negative impact on the population. But also, I dont want mine or any other government buying bitcoin.
