R can be, still a great place for open source implementations of ML techniques. And strong visualizations of data with ggplot2. Learn all the packages of the ‘tidyverse’. All good if you want a powerful toolkit for data analysis. I have been on data science teams that use R exclusively. I’ve never used power BI.
I’m actually in the middle of hiring a data analyst, both good things I look for on a resume, among other things
