It ain't just government. Make the wrong person mad online, or make them think you have a lot of Bitcoin, and it could put a target on yourself that you don't need. It's preferable to make it more difficult for crazy people to track you down, particularly if you also have a family to worry about their safety.

Yea definitely not a one size fit all but it just seems like 95% of Nostr is talking to a meme behind the screen. Holding bitcoin doesn’t seem like freedom anymore if you have to hide yourself.

Obviously I’m not saying give all your info out there, that’s silly but yea it’s nice to see a few human faces.

Unfortunately, the threat-vector of some asshole figuring out you are a Bitcoiner who likely has enough of a stack to make it worth their while is a very real one. That is going to be the case with any notable asset of value, freedom money or not.
