There needs to be a set of Nostr-based products that can create sufficient disruption in order for the protocol to be widely adopted. And this will require more than having Nostr-based replicas of mainstream apps.

Exactly! There are thousands of smart creative talented developers working on NOSTR, someone will create a must have hack which draws users from all over the internet. Something new will be built which has not been available anywhere else! If you think about the possibilities with the NOSTR protocol, you can build many things which simply are not possibly with any other protocol. Think combinations and permutations!
