I've totally abandoned it more than 2y ago. I've thought about deleting it but I think it's more useful to let it sink into nothingness. Even if one npub gets here because of that I'll take it as a great win.
I had a twitter account ages ago... Like, before 2010 I think. I checked it one time after I made it and found that someone was using it and posting stuff in Ukrainian. I changed the password to spite the fucker. Never looked at it again.
Amend that. Just remembered my second attempt to twitter and they banned me. I didn't even say anything. Not one post.

I used it as read-only in the beginning because twitter was a very good source for local info in my betting days. It worked well for me up until 2010-2011. I came back for bitcoin twitter.
I'm a little ashamed to say I wasn't ban despite saying really retarded stuff. This was really bad for my ego, but also educational later on. 🤭

i think i got mine suspended in the early days of the musk takeover, but then i was on nostr at that point and i was like #nostronly and even banned myself from nostr for a while as i was building a vanity miner to make this one with the ...mleku ending
that was about october 2023, or thereabouts, just before i moved to Sao Vicente after my former sponsor for indranet rugged me due to him being rugged by his own country's customs for importing his own possessions (books, mainly) back to ireland
Oh yeah, almost forgot how I made a second account and got banned before I even made one post. I was still in the account creation process and this popup tells me I'm banned, go to this site to appeal it, and then when I tried to appeal it said I'm banned so I can't use that function. At that point, I just gave up. It was maybe late 2019 or 2020.
So typical of a western country, trying to control people's possessions. Ireland really took a dump around when they joined EU.
yeah, i had to pull out all stops to not end up homeless, sold my spare laptop, and a few other things, and was lucky i bumped into my current employer and they wanted someone to build a nostr relay for some blockchain project
the stress of it all made my friend crack up also, some kind of paranoid psychosis about being spied on or something, i think he is ok now, still around, maybe even reads my posts, at least i know once or twice he has responded, but it was some time since then
he did not adapt to living in madeira at all, and i can understand that... it was a hella strain for me, but i had no place to run back to or any way to pay to go there, so i went hell for leather to get sorted out, i'm glad i did, life has been pretty good, once i got adjusted

And your friend was probably right - I think there's wayyyyyyy more spies out there than I used to think. And I'd assume they're more interested in travellers than normies.
