iirc Col Douglas Macgregor made the same historical point in a way that is more convincing to Americans: Crimea has been part of Russia longer than USA has been a country.

The ideas that elected officials don't really run Western governments or that Western "leaders" rarely live up to their international promises is (to me at least) well-known.

But if you're "that guy who just started paying attention" (eg Tucker Carlson) there were some points worth pondering.
