I don't even know how you get a seed phrase on nostr.

I think it's as "simple" as with Bitcoin. You get a 256-bit hash from your nsec, then run it through some sort of cryptographic function, and from that you derive the mnemonic list of words using BIP-39.

What I've never seen is the opposite -- what OP is mentioning here about using a seed phrase with an existing Nostr app. But if you have a seed phrase, then you can revert the process and get the nsec. Has anyone put together a tool for that? No idea.

You can't derive seed words from a private key

The other way around then?

I thought it worked like BTC and that in fact Nostr addresses were "like" BTC addresses.

Yes, seed words to private key is the only direction possible

You can get your seed words using #Amber signer. Go into your settings and seed words are a back-up option.

nostr:npub1w4uswmv6lu9yel005l3qgheysmr7tk9uvwluddznju3nuxalevvs2d0jr5 it does not appear that you can input seed words into Amber to add that account for signing. Is this a planned feature in the future, or am I missing something?

You can paste them when login in and it should work

Paste them separated by spaces

Word1 word2 word3...

Excellent! Will need to try it sometime!

Didn't think seed words was an option since it's not listed here:
