It was suggested by a panelist this morning during the Yakihonne Nostr event that we could bring about user adoption with Taproot Assets / Nostr Assets tokens.
I'm going to hardcore disagree with that. Nostr doesn't need a token. Nostr empowers people all over the world by providing them with censorship resistant tools, not scamming them with promises to get rich.

We do. Zaps are a great incentive and feedback tool. Bitcoin and Nostr don't need one another to survive, however they do have a beautiful symbiotic relationship.

Tokens will have the opposite effect, I guarantee you. Nostr already has to fight against a negative mainstream perception of Bitcoin: let's avoid giving them an actual reason not to use this platform.

Completely agree. However, I wouldn’t care at all if someone tried that. Taproot assets are at least not toxic bullshit when it comes to chain validation and security. And unfortunately the popular bullshit IS toxic garbage for the timechain.
I’d actually be quite happy to see bullshit that was a responsible steward of the Bitcoin network become popular. I’ve learned that very little I say will stop the overwhelming majority of people playing with shitcoin trash. But maybe there’s a chance they can do it in a way that doesn’t deliberately waste resources and cause problems for the very people maintaining the network they are using.
… but in general, Nostr doesn’t need “a token” and I don’t think it would help regardless. Only confuse TF out of people.
Sats and nuts are the tokens. Do the work and get rewarded if people find value in it. If not continue on or tailor your craft until it becomes valuable
