My inaugural maple syrup season is done. Taps pulled. Wound up with a little less than a full gallon of maple syrup from only 4 trees tapped. Also got a little over a cup of syrup from one black walnut tree. I will definitely be expanding my tapping next season. I also plan on growing sorghum this summer to make molasses on the fall.

Is this in response to tariffs? 🤔

No, just something I've always wanted to try.

Could you point me to a beginner's guide? This year is the first I have access to my own trees and have also always wanted to try it.

I don't have anything specific that I learned from. Watched a lot of videos on YouTube about small scale maple tapping. There's also a Facebook group "backyard maple syrup" that has a lot of good info. Maybe next winter I can do a step by step guide of my process here on nostr.

Thanks! I'll have a look around...

I am very curious how the black walnut tree does
