No open source community. The laser engraving/cutting community is very (for lack of a better term) cut throat and dog eat dog. It wasnt always that way, when I first got started 6 or7 years ago it was very congenial and full of helpful people. Unfortunately I think when the market got flooded with cheaper and cheaper lasers it became a race to the bottom and the helpfulness dried up.

I use inkscape for my design work. Adobe is also good, but expensive. Lightburn is another good option for both design and running the laser, but I haven't made the jump to that yet.

There are a few really good channels on YouTube that are very helpful. Laser Everything has a ton of very in depth and detailed videos on all aspects of laser work.

I make a lot of my own files but also buy a decent amount. etsy is a pretty good source for tested files. Just be sure the seller has a lot of good feedback. What kind of stuff are you looking for?

I wish people would stop using square. Square is a horrible company that hates freedom. If they even think you violated their terms of service they will freeze your account and money. I do laser engraving and at part of my business, at one time. involved firearms. Their terms of service forbids the sale of "weapons" at the time. I wasnt selling anything besides engraving services. They eventually released my money but they permanently banned my bank account so I can never open another Square account.

100% ridiculous. Something else that I have noticed lately that drives me nuts is places that ONLY accept card payments and then they charge you 3% for paying with a card. If you can't figure out how to build card fees into your pricing you shouldn't be running a business.

Day 3 post op total knee replacement. This too shall pass. Looking forward to having a pain free and productive spring and summer this year vs last year. Keep moving forward.

For Thanksgiving this year I deboned a whole chicken (that we raised) except for the drumsticks. I stuffed it with stuffing and a turkey loin. Wrapped it into a roulade so it still looked like a whole chicken. I then vac sealed it and cooked it in the sous vide at 155 for 6 and a half hours hours. Then I chilled it for several days and on the day I seasoned the skin salt and garlic powder and cooked on the Traeger to 165 internal.

It was probably one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. Absolutely delicious.
