what frustrates people more... that their message doesn't reach every node? or that they can't read every message from every node?

What frustrates me more is that a message could reach a singular centralized node and must be paid for in order to be promoted to every person.

Interesting. I’m willing to pay for information which is (potentially) valuable but opposed to others paying to impose what they think I should see.

I’m against pay-to-play platforms. Freedom of speech should be free and open source 🫂

totally with you. pay-to-play promotes the idea that you can use money to purchase attention.

I would guess the second but both things are in the nature of decentralized systems and not only distributed ones.

There is always are prize to pay and you have to value it yourself.

Yup! It takes getting used to. Hell, half the reason I'm writing this is to remind myself. 😂

For me, the latter, by far. FOMO.

FOMO is not just real, it’s everywhere. Lately I’ve been thinking about ways to combat the negative effects by being more intentional with information decay functions… some sort of algorithmic TTL on the digital items I hoard.

Or you could just occasionally overwrite your master boot record. 🥴

All kidding aside, I agree. I have backup drives of things I’ll almost certainly never look at again.

LOL… that moment of dread which then leads to relief when you realize things will be ok. Related is the joy of a new machine…. “nothing gets copied/installed until I need it”

Unless you run syncthing, and everything gets copied, just in case. 😅

Just in case. That hits hard 😂
