When I was in elementary school we didn't get to pick shit... The Band Instructor was always like "we need more bassoon players" or "you look like a percussionist" (?!) and so guess what we got...
I was fortunate enough to get percussion and ended up a Jazz band drummer for a bit.
low-key always loved the contrabasson lol but hey, we all know percussion was the cool kids section 😎
