PopOS Beta 24.0.4 is quite good already and the new COSMIC UI is pretty, great for a first time Linux experience.

what are the advantages over other popular Linux distributions besides pretty UI?

"It just works" on most devices and doesn't feel different or scary to new users.

Thank you sir.

Yeah, I've been a fan of PopOS for a while. In my opinion it is the nicest tiling window manager, while allowing for a regular desktop experience. I used i3 for a long time, but PopOS won me over.

PopOS had always a good tiling solution

Is still prefer i3, it is so clean and minimalistic by default, with infinite customizability, and especially since it runs on Qubes

Yes, COSMIC is pretty nice

Very decent driver support out of the box when installing on a fairly new and up-to-spec system, incl. those with NVIDIA cards.

I've installed it a month ago and I am too pleased with how it works. A few glitches but overall pretty happy.

PopOS, Mint, or Ubuntu for people switching from windows 10?

PopOS for newcomers.

QubesOS for serious people.

Debian...

Tried a few distros when I switched to Linux five years ago, Pop!_OS is my favorite ever since. Looking forward to COSMIC, seems very promising. 👌

pop-upgrade release upgrade -f

This gets you updated to beta.

Unfortunately I have multiple issues after updating. Flatpaks don't open, etc.
