Starting today I am going to run an experiment with my LN node, no more rebalance from my side. #noderunners

lets see how this plays out 🫡
🤙 I have tested this sometimes and always end up going back to 'moderate' rebalancing. For certain channels it seems necessary.
Well... a lot of time pass and the node is as healthy as ever. When your reach a good number of channels with good amount of bandwidth there is almost no need to rebalance via software, spamming the network by your own, others nodes are already doing that.
- You use less processing power
- You use less network traffic
- Accounting (for your own) is a lot easy
- If you have a Tor only node, it's a must
What else you can do:
- Loop out when the time is right
- Use the biggest amount you can
- Close channels with no traffic
Next experiments... set and forget ppm (in progress); reduce max_htlc per channel to lower failed routing.
