how does this work?

Using a captive portal called nodogsplash

What' going on here? What runs mips?

A GLAR300m WiFi Router. It's a simple nostr client now :)

sickkk

Explain it to me like im 5yo, autistic and retarded pls

Is this pay for wifi with sats?

Yes, the TollGate (router) has a captive portal that takes SATs and let's you in once you've paid. Now that it speaks nostr, it can talk to it's fleet manager and other routers to find a cheaper gateway or better market conditions.

This router takes Bitcoin and talks nostr :)

that was pretty good. I almost got it

Is this an ISP or just local wifi?

It sources internet from other Internet gateways, but you can treat it like an ISP that doesn't KYC you. All it needs is Bitcoin and your good to go.

So far it's all WiFi, but the goal to make the market so efficient on our side of the TollGate that the supply chain (ISPs and their suppliers) are forced onto Bitcoin rails.

Can I, who am from another country, use this internet gateway by installing the app on OpenWRT?

If possible, that would be really cool.

Sure that's the goal. The internet is global :)

I'm still working on making it user friendly so I suggest waiting a few weeks before installing it. I'm testing it on a router called GLAR300m, but I'm happy to provide support if someone wants to try a different OpenWRT router.
