Could be. Obviously your relays determine which cross-section of nostr you exist within, and new users don’t really understand that. Like all new users, initially I had no idea which relays to add, so when I followed people I would just add relays that I saw they had in their lists. Over time I added several and deleted others, paid for a couple, and probably still have too many, but it works, lol.

Two of the best suggestions I can give people are to add the nostr.band and nostr.wine relays, as they aggregate from other relays so you will see more notes from relays that you’re not connected to, and then add a blastr relay to make sure your notes are broadcasted out to many relays. But that approach is also too dependent on a small number of players, so it’s a stopgap approach. Hopefully clients get better about things like relay hints in events.
