I have nothing against storing arbitrary data on Monero.

NFTs and inscriptions are completely different than simple data storage. Inscriptions being an NFT protocol not only store data but also track the ownership of that data, making the token they are attached to non-fungible. This would defeat the whole purpose of Monero.

Oh interesting, I see your point.

Well, we can't stop people from revealing their own transactions if they truly want to, and of course people revealing their txs hurts Monero's anon set, thus its privacy, thus its entire purpose.

Two kind of users, NFT bros and digital cash people, completely different motivations and they seem to be destined to collide, destroying each other, hmm, we need to align their incentives somehow.
