It’s a downward spiral.

The reality is you cannot keep minimum wage at zero when the government controls the money; ie when the government creates inflation.

The people working minimum wage would never be able to keep up with inflation without minimum wage going up. (Not implying they are outpacing inflation but simply not getting 100% killed by it) It’s simply another symptom of a broken debt based economy.

Imagine you went through 2022 inflation numbers and your employers never raised your wage - you’d be royally fucked if you were near the minimum wage. it’s a band aid fix that doesn’t fix anything but make inflation compound on itself.

Even in an inflationary environment, imposing a minimum wage does nothing but increase the number of unemployed (both make the issue a never ending problem & exactly what govt officials want).

The only way to increase wages is to allow people the freedom to be as productive as they can be so that employers need employees & can afford to hire them.

Conversely, the more hoops businesses have to jump through & demands they have to meet, the fewer businesses survive which reduces competition & opportunities for employment. That makes it an employer's market for the remaining politically connected corps (which is what they want). And when only politically connected corps are left then more money flows to them, which means more money flows to govt officials as bribes.
