True, you can create it via tor or vpn anymore, I get its to fight spam. But new methods could be implemented to combat this. Hint, bitcoin lightning payment maybe, to sort out the bots from humans, at least to some degree.
Proton mail is the same, you can't create an account via tor, and it wants an existing email for verification - I mean whats the point then 😉

The point is that they e2ee your data and do not log your activity. I hope you know that google, outlook and other commercial mail providers do not offer none of these features.
I know mate, been using tuta for years and I am glad I support the cause and pay a subscription. Still after all these years I find it silly they still only supports paypal and credit cards...
Yes is a fair point to never stop to ask for it. But to them not on Nostr. But to me it is not legit to word it as their businessmodel would not offer nothing.
