Privacy is normal :) wot.yesnostr.net

Is there a way to use more advanced wallet features using #Umbrel + Lightning wallet app (lnd).

I have coin control in mind, to spend specific UTXOs, and also to see more details about transactions, etc... The Lightning Wallet web app is very limited...

#asknostr

Here is my rundown of unique #privacy coins (not copycats like piratechain, zano etc).

#Zcash - great mobile wallet, but pain in the ass to run a node (and use it as a wallet), hope this gets better with zebrad.

#Pivx - great desktop wallet with good tor support (can also run masternode on .onion), but no good mobile wallet (correct me if Im wrong?).

#Firo - good desktop wallet, bad network privacy (masternodes on clearnet), mobile wallet is "ok" but being developed actively.

#Monero - mobile wallets are "ok", running a node is "ok", the decoy privacy isnt great, looking forward to the upcoming FCMP upgrade to improve this.

For onboarding noobs Zcash wins by far because of the good UX of #zashi wallet, it " just works".

What do you think? #asknostr

Cool, can you drop me your zcash address and I will send you my shipping address as the memo 😀

Learning #morsecode. The A and N are so easy to mix up 😿 Driving me crazy...

I understand the mechanism, the issue I see is that trust in the network can break down if news comes out someone is printing coins in the shielded pool... Thats why I think it shoud mature more. I wouldnt just attach it to bitcoin today...

#asknostr Thoughts on this game?

Is it a scam?

(fyi the link has a freferral code)

Did anyone wrap their head around the spark protocol for ln? Its what wallet of satoshi uses for self custudy mode. Thoughts?

(this one stops the charging if temperature is above 50C or bellow 0C to protect the lion battery, you need to solder a 10k thermistor to it)

I think its crucial it exists, the tech is amazing, still risky, could be bugs that need polishing out, but a big plus for the crypto ecosystem that a viable private chain exists. Regarding the price pump, just a noal day in the cryptoverse... 😅

Only don't know!

Its easy while the trend is up, usually all your amazing trading skills somehow disappear when the bear starts. Its good to start learning when the market is depressed/boring and sideways...

Why is Bitchat android version lagging so much behind iOS?

Android verison: 1.2.2

iOS version: 1.3.3

Found it, there is a premium license for some devices. So that means the project is not open sourced yet?

---

MeshCore premium features can be enabled on the T-Deck, T-Display Pro, and T5 ‘Ultra’ firmware, by purchasing an 8 GBP (about $11) license on the MeshCore store. Premium features include:

#NEXXPhone #Liberux #LinuxPhones #DeGoogledPhones #DeGoogled

Hope this one makes it. It would be great if forces were joined on making some hardware for a linux phone. We have the Librem phone by Purism, which never really took off, I mean it costs 1999$. Then there is the Ubuntu Touch project, which only works on select hardware and is barely usable...

In the end I imagine raspberryPIs and alike will get so small and powerful they will be used as phones at some point 😉

yeah true, but having an easy tool means every noob can do it... 😅 Still it would be a usefull tool. It would also be nice to have a backup nsec already, and you already sign an event now that that is your backup. So in case you get hacked/lose your primary key, people already know what is your backup. But actually this should be done on some blockchain, so you have a reliable timestamp that you signed that in the past. There should be a nip for this 😍

In the beginning I hated it, I supported the zclassic fork and later on the zen (horizen) forks, that ditched the dev tax. But today, seeing all the magic zero knowledge stuff they developed, I could say the dev tax was a good idea. Also since zclassic is gone, zen also just became a base token, ditching the privacy stuff. I guess it was a good idea to fund all this development...

zcash is better for privacy, but monero is more widely accepted.

With the latest Zashi wallet for zcash, it became much easier to use, private transactions are default.

The 21m cap on zcash kinda convinced me to learn more about it, I dont like the infinite no cap supply on monero...

Some issues? Did they get resolved? I think the app, at least on android doesnt stay alive in the background...

I am slowly starting to understand this a bit more, so there are two main ways to store data in the bitcoin blockchain (right?).

1. OP_RETURN - provably unspendable, the data is not part of the utxo set and can be pruned (even if you have a full node you could prune this in theory, since it doesn't affect consensus).

2. Encoding it in outputs - creating outputs with scriptPubKey that look spendable syntactically but are actually unspendable in practice. From Bitcoin’s point of view, these outputs look like valid spendable coins, so they get added to the UTXO set. But since the “keys” to spend them don't exist, they are forever unspendable. That means they sit in the UTXO database forever, wasting space and resources for every full node.

So lets say some illegal data enters the chain and the police visits you because you run a full node, or you are a miner...etc. In case of OP_RETURN you can dump that data since it doesn't affect consensus. In case the data is in the outputs you can't just dump it, because it affects consensus.

So to my understanding, lets assume there will always be people that want to spam the chain and they will find a way to do so and spamming in the outputs can't be prevented anyway. It seems wiser to let them use OP_RETURN (doesn't hurt as much) instead of spamming the utxo set (it hurts).

Am I missing something?

Btw are these patches enabled in knots by default or do you need to set it in the config?

I don't get it entirely... They also have to censor if the data is in a bogus output of a multisig tx, in that case its even worse since it becomes part of the utxo set. Right? Or am I missing something?

Just spun up my first #nostr #wot #relay

Nostr is so much fun 🥰

I am using Nostr daily, I spend most of my time on Primal(the web browser client) the great thing about Nostr is the whole ecosystem of apps which offer a little twist of their own. All of this is possible by the use of the Nostr profile secret key (via an extension (alby or nos2x) best practice is to never use the nsec directly).

For example [pinstr ](https://pinstr.app/)will behave like pinterest for Nostr, to create image gallery collection, another example would be nostrapp or [nostrapplink](https://nostrapp.link/)which are a repository of Nostr apps (with reviews) …

Among all these apps, there is one particular service under the name [npub.pro](https://npub.pro/), which acts as a dynamic portfolio page, it is presented as a ‘Beautiful nostr-based websites for creators’.

![](?w=86)

This website is part of the nostr.band family (as nostrapplink), you can recognize them as all website powered by nostr.band have this right handle with the user nostr profile (which appears in the middle).

Once on the npub.pro page, just click on "try now" button

from there the process is very similar to setting up a tumblr profile, or wordpress website, except the content already exist (it will be extracted from the nostr profile) and once the theme has been chosen, press publish and voila! super easy, user friendly and great result in minutes.

The creator of npub.pro is 'Brugeman'. I have asked a couple of question because the search was not working when I created my npub.pro website, it turns out it was not fully implemented yet, the good news is that search is working now and for later edit of the website keep this link nearby [npub.pro/admin](https://npub.pro/admin) (you can edit the theme from there if you change your mind later.)

If you want to have a look at an example – here is mine

Search still doesn't work though? Also what I would expect from this, since it is supposed to be a "site", is that it would get indexed on search indexes, but I can't find the site on google for example (even after months). Good thing I had this one site I liked in my browser history, otherwise I would never find it. And even today, If I type in the exact site name in the search, nothing comes up.\

\

Still an awesome project! I'm sure it will get better with time!

#asknostr Seriously thinking about leaving the EU in the medium term, the trend towards an orwellian 1984 style environment seems to be increasing.

Which countries would you recommend to consider to move to?
