Some issues? Did they get resolved? I think the app, at least on android doesnt stay alive in the background...

remember to go to the settings and change the battery setting to "unrestricted", this will guarantee usage in the background. In Mobile Data, verify as well that background usage is allowed

They have just started experimenting with waking the app up in the background, previously it has always slept to reduce battery use
