Sharing some notes from a meditation retreat in 2018 with Rinpoche Tenzen Wangydal .....

We are machines of ignorance, because we don't know who we are.

Meditation helps us understand who we are.

Dzochen definition of meditation takes a boundless view. Our sense of self is a boundary. When we free ourselves from that identify of self, we are limitless.

This simple shift of identity helps us overcome obstacles.

If there is a shift in the ground (state of self perception), there will be a shift in experience.

The ultimate view is open

Never close off from people

Step away, take a break, but know it's a perception of yourself. Hug your enemies, utilize obstacles, find benefit from conflict.

We are energy. We create sickness, pain and blockages in our body speech and mind. To free ourselves of sickness, pain and blockages, we must first clear the space.

If we want love in our life, but we are not creating space for it. It's like trying to download a file on a full USB drive.

Clear out the old files and make room for the new.

Then he gave us this meditation:

Breathing in, visualize pure open luminous energy

Breathing out, visualize all of your samsara leaving

One of the craziest and helpful things I’ve ever heard uttered in a Dharma talk: β€œyou definitely exist, but don’t make the mistake of thinking that you are real.”

😳🀯

I particularly agree with the "creating space for it" part. Been purposefully doing that.

Thank you for sharing!

After I posted this I thought it was a message specifically for the people in the room... Many were long time practioners of that particular Rinpoche and already had a lot of the context for what he was expressing.

Yes.

Creating and clearing space for new beginnings feels good 😊

Yes! And it really works!!
