Ordinals are literally bitcoin UTXOs to which you assign a different meaning at the human layer. Bitcoin doesn’t know or care how/why people use them.

almost nobody who dislikes ordinals is proposing making them invalid in consensus. they are proposing placebo filters that don't actually block ordinals. the anti-ordinals crowd is deathly afraid of soft and hard forks.
