fwiw, I feel dirty for writing an entire URL to share a nostr event, but too few clients support NIP-89.
What would have it look like if clients supported NIP-89? I could share the article, without the URL, just the ID, you could tap on the ID and your favorite NIP-23 reader would open up with that article open. Whether it's Habla, Yokihonne, Blogstack, Highlighter, Nostr.com, Damus or anything else.
you could use lnshort and create short url that redirects to the article. temporary workaround

I don't see any reference to nostr at all on the site
if it doesn't support nip-89 there is no difference in writing a long URL or a short URL wrt to not explicitly deciding to what client I'm linking
to be clear: I don't care about the length of the URL
I just care that if you prefer using blogstack and I prefer using nostr.com to read NIP-23s, when I link to it I can impose my view of what client you should use or not. With NIP-89 I don't impose my view on you, you just read what I linked to with whatever client you like.
Yeah for sure, that makes a lot of sense. Doesn’t force clients upon you, and leaves the reader the freedom to choose 💜

NIP-31 + NIP-89 demolish the leg-up superapps have over micro apps.
So yes, if we want decentralization to have a chance we should start advocating for it a whole lot more.

imagine you share a naddr of zap stream within a short-note
and your followers' client doesn't support understanding what that thing you embedded means
with NIP-31:
👉 they see a human-friendly text e.g. 'this is a Live Stream titled Rabbit Hole Recap #888"
with NIP-89:
👉 they click on the linked event and the most recommended (by that user's follows) live-stream compatible client opens up with the correct stream (e.g. Zap.stream or Amethyst opens up or any other clients that supports it)
I’d love to hear more about this. Seems like the most #nostr way to handle this. What are the objections?

I think it's just too new and clients haven't prioritized supporting it yet (other than Amethyst obviously)

This is awesome and we've discussed this for ZapStream. How awesome would it be if the streamer or a viewer could drop an note or profile in chat, you click and it pops-out for direct engagement?
No need to leave the stream, no need to remove an url from a link because you don't use the linked client and only need the ID. No need for copy/pasting anything.
