For me, personally, I'd rather solve problems than do repetitive low-skill stuff. I like planning the route, identifying the bottlenecks, laying down the foundation, fleshing it out, and polishing it. It's nice to know something I put care in gets used, and is a usable, pleasant part of someone's software experience.
