why are the people I follow not saved if I close the app? I am not following anyone right now, but I would like to follow back all those lovely people that followed me.

Good morning! I had a similar issue with following when I first started with Nostr.
Go to Settings > Select First Aid > Reset contact list
This should resolve your issue. Let me know if it does!
