It is easy to admit our governments commit atrocities overseas. We know they conduct violent revolutions, assassinations, bombings of innocent civilians.
But no one wants to think they would ever do it to us.

More over there is a good chance that domestic atrocities has to be actually more common.
Much easier, cheaper and also much more needed...
Of course they would and they'll even prosecute you for their attrocities... I have proof, but the question is, can you handle the proofth? Most people have inured themselves with half-truths like "the government is here to protect us" or "the police will enforce the law" or "I'm good, I'm not a criminal" or "a lawyer will defend me in court"... ALL half-lies by definition! They will assault and batter you in the middle of the night because the darkness is where they operate best. I've survived their brutality. Will you be able to say the same?
