Unfortunately, Nostr lacks many of the features my friends and family expect from a social media, so I don’t expect to see them on here.
Nostr’s shortcomings are of course just due to the decentralized nature of relays, which makes it basically impossible to add unlike functionality, stories that gets hidden after 24 hours, and stuff like that.
Not things I really care about, but the people I know personally, they absolutely care about these things.
I think and hope we’ll reach a point where people won’t care about how many likes their posts get, because there will be so many bots that the metric just becomes irrelevant.
Unfortunately, like counters are a quick dopamine hit for many people (that little spike of happiness people get when the number goes up) but I think this will change.
When the majority of the likes are from bot accounts, people will stop caring, because at that point, it’s meaningless.
