unfortunately I still feel this way about LN.

Although having Zeus with a couple of channels on my Graphene is pretty dope

when I can

I just use #monero.

Is #monero better than #bitcoin ?

Explain to a five year old .. please :-)

Monero makes *different tradeoffs* than bitcoin.

"better" is a subjective assessment.

transactions are larger, so it doesn't scale as well.

but it hides sender, receiver and amount by default.

there is constant in pereptua emission,

but that supply inflation is lower than gokds and guarentees network security in the future.

the protocol is still being updated, which could be an attack vector,

but it responds and adjusts to the changing environment and circumstances it exists in.

so its up to everyone to DYOR and decide whats "better" for themselves.

generally the trade-offs monero makes lends itself to more MoE useage than Bitcoin.

If it hides sender and receiver .. how one knows it is doing right accounting ? I guess there is no public ledger to validate the transactions?

Zero Knowledge Proofs.

a transaction has to prove that the sum of the inputs and outputs equals zero to be accepted by the network as valid.

we can prove that *without knowing the amounts*.

but thats correct,

we can't do "napkin math"to sum up the utxo set as in Bitcoin.

It's nice to see a Bitcoiner here on Nostr that isn't already established showing legitmate interest in what makes Monero better in certain aspects, and vice versa.
