For the record, I would be fine if the policy was to hand out documents that gave permission to live and legally work to anyone that came through a port of entry without prior criminal records anywhere else, for fingerprinting, photos etc, and documentation checks for on anything they had with them. After a few years of no crimes etc they could file for permanent residency/ citizenship. There are a few details left to settle but that is the basics. I do think the more people inside of a trade block participating in voluntarily exchange with their labor, and capital, the better. I’m not sure that is what this author is pointing to however. My guess is they are pointing to the short term stimulus of more government spending on food and hotels, etc to house people with debt. I’m not a fan of all that debt. The demographic winter is upon us. Immigration by anyone willing to work will become desirable in short order.
