This is just sad to read. I feel sorry for Damus users. While Zaps are not the only reason you should use Nostr, Zaps are part of our identity as we have been building a value for value economy for 6+ months on Nostr.
Opt out. Use Android.

It’s not so bad. It seems like nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s is adding an extra tap to zap. We’ve only had one tap zaps for a few weeks.
Damus on iPhone is important. It’s the most popular phone in the world, and we’re not going to convince most people to trade their iPhone so it’s easier to zap on an protocol they never heard of.
That's true if you look at smartphone brand, but if you look at platform market share, Android has 80% of the world's mobile OS. People in the world that need censorship resistant communication use Android far more than they do iOS.
That said, it would be a great disservice to the world if iOS did not have Damus. Will needs to do what he can to make sure that iOS has Damus available. It's very important.
