Wellllll it's kinda the whole thing with Objectivists. Like, "altruism" is a bad thing to them.

But I agree there's a lot of "straw manning" and value-judgy words there. "Ruthless" could be "driven". "Opportunistic" could be "sees opportunities." And "plunderers" directly implies theft, which is completely outside the scope for free market capitalism.

On the other hand, judgmental wording aside, this is the basic argument of Adam Smith -- "It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own self-interest."

Objectivism is an entire philosophic system covering metaphysics (recognises reality is real and cannot contradict its self), epistemology (recognised the use of reason as man’s only form of knowledge), ethics (personal morality of egoism, rational selfishness, i.e. pursuing your own values), politics (state protection of individual rights), economics (free market capitalism). All of which provides the framework for an individual to understand reality and make moral judgements in order to benefit his life, whether he is in a city of 30 million people or alone on a desert island.

I see you’re a libertarian, Libertarianism is simply a social system which offers no guidance for an individual outside of social interactions. I highly recomend diving into objectivism, it’s a much deeper philosophy and you’re get much more from it 👍🏽
