Launch today got me thinking...

Gonna be interesting to do #bitcoin interplanetary. Low quality high latency networking puts a kink in the works.

Could you mine on the moon? 1.25 seconds from earth to the moon at the speed of light. Probably doable. Lower loss solar power (no atmosphere) can probably make that up.

Could you mine on Mars? 3 minutes lag best case scenario. Longer when orbits have earth and mars farther apart. That is going to lead to a lot of chain splits and orphan blocks.

Likely each planet runs it's own #bitcoin chain instead of dealing with the lag issues.

Me to bill me too.

They missed an important point. Bombing the moon doesn't work due to the different gravity wells.

It costs more to launch a nuke at the moon than it would cost an established moon colony to throw a giant rock with greater damage effect at earth. Add in the munitions manufacturing cost and it becomes a losing battle quickly.

Read the moon is a harsh mistress for a solid covering of an earth moon war.

Great point!

I learned that from The Expanse. Rocks are real cheap 🪨🌍
