Ok hodlbod has been COOKING on his frost signer thing with email login. I just got a demo from him and it has me more excited about Nostr than I have been in a long time.

- users can sign into Nostr apps via email (or someday any other identity system they like. Phone? Facebook? snail mail? Āhau?) but behind the scenes they still have a private key

- no server or company ever needs a full copy of their private key

- at any point they can extract their Nostr key from the system to use another one (like a bunker, hardware signer, or just a different group of signing servers, etc.)

The big problem with Nostr onboarding is that people need to put in a significant amount of work to understand and manage keys before they even get a chance to get any value out of the software. But pomade enables someone to join without thinking about keys, *and later* start caring and still be able to take full custody of their key. It is the second part that nobody has really done before, on Nostr or anywhere else that I know of. It's not bulletproof, but it combines all the best tech we have to balance ease-of-use, security, and user control.

Nice. I'm making this whole thing from scratch. I would consider Neo4j as a necessary component of such a relay. Can your relay be made to use it as a backend?

I plan on writing the neo4j and wot libraries in golang, but because each repository will be small and focused, it'll be easy to port to any other relay/language.

I love that there are many enthusiastic Nostr users here who want to explore more features and options. At the same time, the dev grind is real and it takes time, effort and long term maintenance commitment to add them. App can be done and it is (for the most part) is “low” maintenance. Any additional services are a much bigger investment, planning, cost calculations, maintenance, and long term funding. It is costly, it is exhausting, and it is boring AF too. But, you still need water, electricity, basic food, and utilities, that’s the infrastructure that nobody gives a thought and ignores. According to the general opinion, I am not a Nostr dev or an OG shitposter. Although it is just an opinion, it is (on a human level) highly discouraging and makes me want to just throw in a towel and give up. Between family, day time job and Nostr development (yeah I do that too), I have almost no time for eating and sleeping, forget having fun or enjoying. So, I am hearing you, I would love to help, but I am a one man army when it comes to development, and I cannot stay in a hyper focus mode for too long before burning down again.
