I was riding my bike today and saw a penny laying on the ground. When I was a kid that penny was one cent closer to buying a 20 cent candy bar at the grocery store. But today it’s not worth 15 seconds of my time to pick it up.

It just got me thinking about how much the dollar’s purchasing power has diminished… there are people alive today who remember when a candy bar costs 2 cents!

The funny thing is that when I opened nostr to write this I saw my last post got a zap, 10 sats, STOKED. Today,10 sats is worth LESS than that penny. We are crazy early.

I often have some spare change in local currency (like $2 worth or something) when I’m leaving a country and at the airport I’m often surprised that I can’t even buy one piece of bubblegum with it!
