https://coracle.social/ allows you to interact with notes without losing your position in the feed, it does that by opening a modal with the note view when you click on it.
You can even navigate between notes inside the modal, then close it when you're done and go back to your feed. It is powerful.
Coracle is one of the better clients out there. Has become my go-to web client.
Def has some advantages over snort. I like the Snort UI a little bit more but Coracle has much smoother transitions and loading states. Feels like a more thorough product.

Two things I miss the most: timeline for replies of my followed + download more recent posts when I open it. Now it only shows like 10 recent posts and then jumps to the last time I opened the app.
gossip does as well BUT you got to use the "Back" button in the top left corner
