Someone recently posted about using Talescales to access their Umbrel Node. I was wondering, once I install Talescales on my iPhone, do I let it run all the time or just when I want to access my Node? What’s the best practice here?

maybe you just use it when you need it as I believe it'll consume more battery. but using tailscale is also interesting as you can put your node as the "exit traffic"so when you are abroad, or in a public wifi your mobile traffic is channleed through your node
I usually just have it active when I want to connect to the node.
I have it running all the time since I have many bitcoin services connected. Should be really ok.
Waiting on bits and pieces to get my node setup. Amazon global takes forever. Can’t wait
Will you run an Umbrel relay too?
Yes running it since one week and it's fun feature!
At the moment, just trying to get access to my Node web outside my home. TOR quit working on my Node a while back causing me to lose access when not home. I’m hoping to get restart my Lightning Node again once I get Tailscale up and running.
Look into cloudflare tunnels. Depending on your usecase it might be useful
Oh that's horrible, did you not get tor working again? You should ask in the official telegram group to get assistance to resolve this issue, Stephen Briscoe is usually quite willing to help!
Btw thanks for the awesome zap;-)!
Hey I got TS running and can access my Node, but I can’t access my BTC Payserver on my node. It says it’s me secure connection and should be accessed over TOR or HTTPS. Is there a way to access BTC Payserver on my node using TS?
Not*
Haven't tried btc server on umbrel, I just know https access is almost impossible, there is an experimental integration on tailscale but it will doxx your ip somehow to servers. So rather would try fixing tor, ultimate ratio would be channel backup then reflash of sd card but would rather go fixing by telegram support.
Tailscale is a game changer with umbrel since all the slow down from tor is basically removed but you are not giving up your privacy. I love it. Got all wallets and bitcoin apps connected via tailscale to my node.
