I remember that Twitter had some plans to remove likes and also to not show the number of followers on each profile. If that had happened no one would have felt the need to replicate these features on Nostr.

Well because people like info and transparency. And also have the need to belong/fit in/ like the current viral tweet or person.
yeah that’s why I feel follower is only useful for account evaluation. And it’s another topic about account evaluation is really necessary or not
