I know many men who have said they would, completely seriously, divorce their wife if she didn't work. Or break off an engagement if her career isn't sound. I'm not convinced they actually would in all cases, but we be strugglin in our 20s.

It does seem like it. I feel like some are only together so they can have a combined income to pay their bills.
