Do you really think they cannot do that? Everybody is so skilled in Blockchain and apps but I see some lack of skills in hardware. The entire network is weak. It doesn't take so much to be taken down for real. You are all very sure layer 1 is guaranteed. It is not.

Appreciate your thoughts that’s interesting- but what would happen to bitcoin if they shut the internet off? How long would it need to be off to kill it?

Plus wouldn’t there be far bigger issues if they did this?

I bet in a war scenario or a major crisis the first thing they will attack will be Internet. Military and other powers do not need internet to communicate. And yes there is a way to use Bitcoin without the Internet layer but it is beyond the regular software savy expert.

Fair enough- and you think this will kill it? So the internet would just stay off forever?

Like other technologies, people will start using other methods of communication and it will eventually be phased out. In case of a long enough blackout I bet the following trust and use of Internet will be reduced

Just been looking through so resources from nostr:nprofile1qqs2meaqc6kv5z2utvm03reqzcauekjdj7c8r39verlr98w8ynhv37cpzfmhxue69uhkummnw3ezua3sdshxjmcpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzvuug76l2 and it reminded me of this (they’re free btw) https://anilsaidso.gumroad.com/

On that point fairly sure I saw in Africa they are using BTC without internet connection somewhere (cos it’s still so temperamental)

Do you understand the implication of doing so, right?

Of doing what sorry?
