If ocean can kneecap bitcoin’s fungibility, what are we even doing here?

A tiny mining pool has different standards, so what? If they are not profitable it will fail and if it succeeds it’s because the market finds it valuable.

They will fail, but part of the process in getting there is ensuring that people aren't deceived. That requires this exact process: not trusting, verifying.
